Our Story
Inspired by a city on the edge of the California outback, Twentynine Palms is the gateway to Joshua Tree National Park and the Mojave National Preserve, and host to the world’s largest Marine Corps training base. It was at our vacation home in Twentynine Palms that a fellow rock climber introduced us to home roasting, and where we began experimenting with our very own roasts.
We set out to create the best coffee we’ve ever tasted. It began with the highest quality, ethically sourced sub-varieties and hybrids of Arabica beans we could find, coupled with a top of the line small batch roaster. After fine-tuning our roasting for a decade, we can say with confidence that our micro-batch, freshly roasted coffee beans are among the best out there and make exceptional coffee.
These days, those ten years of hand-tuned roasts have a data partner. We log every batch and use AI to suggest small refinements, with our roaster in the loop on every change, cupping each one before it reaches your bag. The final call is always a human one.
It seemed a shame to keep them all to ourselves, so we took our passion project to market with 29 Bombs Coffee. Every roast is named after a place or legend from the high desert, from Hwy 62 to Amboy Crater and Wonder Valley. Inspired by world class stargazing, vibrant sunsets and unique desert landscapes, we hope you visit Twentynine Palms, or at the very least, escape to the Wild West with a cup of freshly brewed 29 Bombs Coffee.
